In order to achieve the best performance with headspace GC, be careful about sample preparation and instrumentation. Autosampler vials and caps are a very important, often overlooked, element for top space analysis.
Autosampler Vials
It's important to make sure you use the right vials and cap!
Vials size
The size of 6, 10, 20 ml can be used in the top empty vials. Use a standard sample vials to make sure there is enough space at the top, so that you have to meet the standard proportions and of course it has to be a sample that is not over-diluted. Normally the reserved capacity after comparison should be at least 50% of the sample volume
At the bottom of the curve
The top empty vials has a round bottom or flat bottom. Both types are suitable for sampling but round vialsrs tend to be stronger at storing samples. Therefore, the more reliable work should be the round vials-bottom automatic sampler. Round vialsrs also tend to withstand higher pressure and better compatibility with applications such as temperature increases and derivatives.
Correct lid clamp
The top empty vials must be properly pressed. Make sure the lid clamp is properly adjusted. The cap should not affect the use of the back of the vials. To do this, find out more about the correct use of the gland and the top empty vials.
Selection of sampling pad
Use proper temperature proof pad. Improper injection pad will lead to dissolution, and lead to the pollution of the top space.
